| Early 20's Blues |
Your 20’s are years that I don’t think anyone or anything can prepare you for. The real world just comes crashing and the up’s and down’s of adulting comes knocking. You don’t want to take any L’s because it will make you feel like you’re running out of time or like you’re not making any progress at all.
Your early 20’s will have you feeling like you should be accomplishing more or like things aren’t happening the way that they should when in reality things are happening exactly the way that they should.
I think one of the major differences between now and back then is social media. Social media logic makes it seem as if you should have everything accomplished by 25 and if you don’t you’re failing. Social media makes your 20’s look like a breeeeeeze but I promise you it’s not a breeze.
Things will take a left turn when you planned to go right. The ugly truth is that life doesn’t always go as planned. But…. some days are better than others. I always say that if everything in life went the way we wanted it to go we would never learn anything and wouldn’t be able to face any hardships
I try to look at my 20’s as a learning process. Taking a step back and looking at how far I’ve came really keeps me sane.
I’ll be 22 in a couple of days and looking back at where I was this time last year makes me feel a lot better because I’ve accomplished a lot. I see my growth.
Knowing that I’m not the only 21 years old who is experiencing the up’s and downs of these years is what inspired me to write these words.
Never feel like you’re alone because for everything you’re going through about a million more of us are.
Never let ups and downs stop you from reaching your end goal.
Sometimes we have to change the route and that’s ok because we will still reach the same destination that we initially wanted to get to. It might add extra time to our journey but at least we made it. -eb
