I spoke on how important it is to check yourself occasionally in one of my previous blogs. I didn’t touch on it as much in that particular blog which is why I wrote this one. A lot of times we expect things from people that we’re not giving. A lot of times we act a certain way towards people or give off bad vibes that we know we wouldn’t want in return. That’s why self-reflection is so important.

Think about the times you noticed yourself thinking negative about someone. Think about the times you came off a little rude to someone. Most of the times we do things like this without even noticing it. Anytime I find myself thinking negative about someone I immediately check myself. I don’t care how good things are going in my life that doesn’t give me room to judge anyone. We never know what that person may be going through.

Another thing I’ve noticed is how we love to say, “that’s just how I am, deal with it”. I’m pretty sure we are all guilty of using that line at some point of our lives.

Becoming an adult, you realize that having that mentality will only harm you. It’s not cool to have a shitty attitude and expect people to just deal with it. It’s not cool to constantly transfer our bad energy onto other people. We are grown! We’re at the point in life where communicating and letting people know that we’re having a bad day and need to take some time to ourselves is very important.

Ladies, we also have to stop expecting our men to deal with the little moody, 3-year-old attitudes. I see too many women saying “my man going to have to deal with my bad attitudes and mood swings etc. etc. “

No … be grown enough to let him know that you’re having a bad day and need some time to be alone. Some time to self-reflect. At the end of the day no one is obligated to put up with the next person BS not matter how they care.

Questions to ask yourself during self-reflection sessions:

1. What bad actions or habits do I notice ?

2. What steps do I need to take to change them?

Keeping track of self-reflection is also important. Write down the behaviors that you need to change, work on them every single day, and keep notes of your progress .

 In order to see personal growth, we have to address the problems and work to fix them.

Self-reflection is a humbling process.
